Nothing Much

Well, nothing much to report on the baby front... I am in the middle of my 19th week, which is hard to believe. I guess that means almost halfway done, but it sure doesn't feel like it! I had a doctor's appointment recently, and she said everything seems fine. I got to hear the heartbeat again, which is really cool. It's just hard to believe that there is really something growing inside me. Although, it's definitely growing! I've managed to outgrow most of my normal clothes. I still fit into two pairs of jeans and a pair of black pants, but that's about it. It's definitely time for clothes shopping! In fact, I went to Bob's wedding in Texas last weekend, and brought an outfit of regular clothes to wear. Well, when I got there, they didn't fit anymore! So we had to hit the mall and buy an actual maternity dress, which is actually pretty cute. Two weeks from Tuesday we find out whether it's a boy or a girl... I'll definitely have more news then...

Another Purchase

Well, Josh and I really haven't been buying much stuff for the baby because it seems silly at this point- we're going to be moving in a month, and we have already accumulated enough junk to move! But, we were wandering through the clearance aisle at Wal-Mart (one of our favorite places) and we couldn't resist this... I mean, what kid didn't race up and down the hall buck naked with a hooded towel on their head playing Superman? How much cooler is it when the towel actually LOOKS like Superman? So, despite the fact that it was $10 (and my inner-tightwad strongly rebelled) we went ahead and picked it up.

In other baby news... we have decided that we're going to find out what the baby is at our big ultrasound appointment in May. So that gives everyone about one month to cast their vote: What do you think we're going to have?

Baby Stuff!

We may not be having the baby until September, but the baby stuff has started to arrive! :) Ruth bought the turtle sleeper that says "I love Mommy" (Josh is very hurt that there isn't a Daddy one, so if anyone sees one, that would be a good choice!) and it's adorable. Then my aunt, Jane, sent a care package full of baby stuff (she's spoiling him/her already). It had all kinds of fun stuff: wrist rattles, a photo album called "Who Loves Baby?," baby socks (always adorable), and the two white onesies. If you can read them, they say "Party in my Crib, 2 am" and "Nothing's wrong, just testing you." I'm afraid I will be living those words all too soon! Then of course there's the baby blanket we bought, the spoons Dad Looten got for us, and a bunch of fun stuff that one of the ladies at Josh's work brought him because she is getting rid of her baby stuff. Don't be confused, though, the stuffed animals in the background are Josh's, not the baby's! The little tiger is for the baby, though. Josh bought it today from the March of Dimes, and named it Hobbes. Here's hoping we don't have a Calvin! Anyway, it's really fun to be collecting all of this stuff. When I look at baby stuff, though, it just brings to mind the question of finding out or not finding out what the baby is. I am very much of to minds about it. On the one hand, what a fun surprise! But, on the other, more logial hand, I have to have clothes for the baby because I'm obviously NOT going to feel up to going shopping right after he/she is born! So it'd be nice just to decorate and buy stuff. So I don't know, still wrestling with that one. At least we have until May to decide.

The other good news is that I am about 13 weeks now, and, just as promised, the nausea is starting to subside. Not that it's gone, I still gag randomly at a moment's notice (like when Josh makes the mistake of opening the fridge while I'm in the kitchen), but not as often, and I'm not as tied to my cheerios as I have been! I can actually go an hour or two without eating anything. So here's hoping that trend continues and I get to enjoy the fun part of being pregnant! That's the part that comes before I'm as big as a house and can't bend over to paint my toenails! :)

Never Mind! :)

Well, I wasn't going to post on here anymore, I was just going to use the other blog. And I may, as pregnancy progresses and especially after the baby's born. But, for now, the stuff I want to post about I don't want to inflict on some unsuspecting person wondering what we have been up to the last couple of days! So, read this blog at your own risk, as it is unedited! :)

And the story I wanted to tell, was of another first! This weekend we made our first baby purchase (a blanket) and received our first baby gift (plastic tipped spoons). Well, I had another first this weekend, but not such a special one! I had my first puking-in-public experience. It actually reminded me somewhat of Mom's story about puking at the grocery store in Illinois. Except that I was at the mall. Anyway, Josh and I went to get a new battery for my watch. But first we decided to eat lunch, because if I get hungry, it's rarely pretty. So I ate mozerella sticks and a little bit of chicken fingers. Then we decided we would take the food to the car before we headed to Penney's for my watch. Thank God we did! Right as we get to the car, my stomach (which hadn't been feeling well all day, apparently getting up at 5:30 and having a Krispy Kreme donut for breakfast before being in the car for 3 hours wasn't such a good idea) decided it didn't want mozerella sticks anymore and I am puking my guts out IN THE MALL PARKING LOT! I have people driving around me and my husband getting awfully queasy as he stands on the other side of the car frantically trying to figure out what he can do to help. Needless to say, we did not go back in for the watch battery. And, if you should happen to be visiting the Columbia Mall parking lot, watch your step if you park in the last row on the Garfield's side!

When, exactly does all the "glowing" start? 'Cause I don't feel very glowing right now!

Bye-Bye

Well, the point of this blog was to have something to send all the people close to me who I was lying to when I told them so that they could know all about what had happened in the first couple months. I'm not normally a secret-keeper, so it was as much for me to have a place to "talk" as it was to send my mom when she felt like she'd missed out on a month or two of my life! :) I toyed with the idea of keeping up both blogs, but, at this juncture, I am too tired to keep up one blog, much less two! So, now that we have "gone public" with our news, baby info will be on our regular blog! I'm glad so many people have enjoyed reading this one, it has certainly served it's purpose! :)

Yakkity-Yak

So, that takes on all new meaning now... my stomach has been pretty constantly upset for the last week or two. Sometimes it's not too bad... it has been much worse in the evenings. But if I get hungry or spend too much time in the car or eat too much I go straight to yakking. Wednesday (Valentine's Day) I threw up in the car, which was awesome. I knew I was going to, so I grabbed a Wal-Mart bag and used it, and managed not to get any on me or the car. But it certainly put a damper on dinner with Josh that night, and I didn't make it to Winter Bible Conference.

I haven't really been blogging on either site, mostly because I'm just too exhausted to contemplate doing anything that isn't necessary. I mostly go to school, then come home and lay on the couch. Working out is non-existent, the house is in shambles... well, it would be except that Josh keeps cleaning it up because he's an amazing husband. So blogging has taken a back seat to puking and swatching tv (more sleeping then watching). Plus, there is this huge thing going on in my life, and I can't blog about it on the other blog, and this one no one reads, so I just don't have much motivation. Oh well, 2 more days!!! I can't believe we made it... we're not going to see many people today, and Tuesday morning is the appointment!! I'm so excited... I'm also so excited for this first trimester to be over so I can not feel like I'm going to yak at every moment!

But, for now... it's bedtime!!

Still a Secret

Well, we have unbelieveably been able to keep this pregnancy a secret still. As far as we know, no one knows, although I can't imagine people don't suspect! I spend all day eating saltines in my classroom. And last night I kept getting carsick on the way to Bevier for dinner, so I ate saltines in the car. And Ruth saw the picture of a six-week-old fetus that I had saved to my computer. And everyone knows I'm not drinking caffeine. And yet, somehow, no one has said anything yet. I kind of wish they would just so I could tell! 2 weeks from Tuesday...
