The Bag
Ok, so I caved to my husband's constant nagging (he's quite good) and packed a bag for labor. But as I started, I realized I had no idea what to pack. So I kind of followed along with the list in the book from my birthing class, with a few exceptions (no aromatherapy for me, and no "flavorings for ice chips"). But I still don't really feel prepared. So, for all the moms who read this blog... what do I really need to take with me to the hospital? What did you have and not use? What did you want and not have? Just curious... let me know your thoughts!

I packed WAY too much...so don't make that mistake! Comfy pants and tees, socks and your own shampoo so you don't have to use the hospitals baby shampoo! Normal toiletries are good...but nothing too fancy. Keep it simple! I am so excited for you guys! Come on, Elena! We are ready to meet you, girl!!
Love,
April, Tom & Ella
I took my own pillow for my head...your own shampoo and deodorant. Stuff for the baby. A comfy robe since you could be traveling the halls. And shoes that will double as slippers...flip flops are good. Chapstick too.
That is all that I can think of...leave extra room in your bag, since you will come home with more than you took in.

I went to the hospital with just my purse when my first baby was born!! Planning ahead is a good idea! Also--anything you forget one of us will be glad to bring you.

Oh yeah! I second the pillow idea. I was so glad I had mine with me. Hospital pillows are no good!

I would bring multiple pillows. The chairs there are crap, and my back got seriously messed up. The only vicitan I took was becuase my back kept spazzing out b/c of bad support. I would also take the boppy pillow to feed her if you have one (they are also nice to sit on like a doughnut after birth). I also reccomend lanolin (they have this there to give you though if you dont have any, b/c its kinda expensive...only if you are breastfeeding though). Otherwise, just comfy clothes. Good luck!!! I cant wait to hear how it goes. I looked for you at the Roots and Blues festival, Lacey told me she saw you. Too bad I couldnt find ya. I can not wait to see pics of your little cutie.
